Unfortunately the server does keep throwing the odd wobbly now and again. Half thinking of ordering the Aussie DVD's myself too as long as they're not dubbed ! lol

Thank you, Ross.  I'm sorry I didn't see your response until today; I had clicked the box reqesting email notification of response, but I didn't receive one.  I'll just have to check back here more often! : )

The thread I referred to in my first post was on another forum-- one on a different English author of novels.  ; )

And thank you for suggesting the other threads.  I'll be sure to check them out.  As it is, though, I have just about decided that I should order the Australian DVD's of both series.  (Thanks to Caroline for the information!)

Welcome to the phenomenon Maire !

Seems you’ve caught the Poldark bug too !

There’s several “Stickies” dealing with most of the American DVD and video issues at the top of the Poldark Experts Forum that might help you in your search for a copy of the second series. Meanwhile feel free to join in and ask any questions you want on the forums and threads any time, and let’s know how you get on with the books and whether you eventually think they’re better or not than the videos !

BTW was that a thread on this Forum ?

Enjoy of course ....

Ross

Hello.  As indicated by the subject line, I am new to the phenomenon that is Poldark!

I live in the northeastern United States. I did not see either of the Poldark series when they aired on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre in the 1970's because I was only 13 in 1976, and foolishly into other kinds of television programming.  : )

I first realized there was such a thing as Poldark several years ago, while volunteering at my local library. As I was shelving other videos, I came across the set of Poldark 1 tapes. But the name wasn't familiar to me, so they were not among all the wonderful English drama titles that came home with me each week from the library.

Then, a few weeks before Christmas, I saw a thread in another forum about the series and recalled the video set I'd seen at the library all those years ago.  I decided to borrow them to watch over the holidays, and I'm so glad that I did! I've now watched series 1 twice. Unfortunately, the library does not own copies of the second series so I haven't seen it yet. I've just started reading Ross Poldark. My library has copies of all the novels in the series, so I'll be busy with them for a little while.
