I have today been to visit Winston Graham's grave at Buxted in East Sussex and was very surprised that he has no headstone - he is buried with his wife and only her name is on the stone. I asked a member of the church about this and we had to look through the graveyard plan to be absolutely sure he had no stone of his own. Fortunately someone at the church remembered that he was buried in the same grave as his wife. I find it very surprising that such a popular author has what is basically an unmarked grave. I asked if many people come to see his last resting place and was told that I was the first person to ever ask after him - again I find this very surpising. Has anyone else been to the Churchyard?
