Welcome to the forums.

The Poldark Appreciation site you mentioned sounds intriguing; I'd never heard of it.  It's a shame it's no longer up.

I also cannot imagine anyone else in the role(s) of Ross and Demelza, and any of the other characters, as well! That's why it's a constant argument with myself on whether they should make a new series or not.

And you own the series.  I must say I am envious.  I had to return the second half of the series to my library just yesterday as someone had placed a hold on it; I had it checked out for a good six months!

Needless to say, I placed my own hold the day I returned it! Nice to see another member.

Been browsing the Forum for some time, and finally decided to Register. Have been a besotted fan of the Poldark Saga since the first seventies showing on UK BBC. Bought all eight books at the end of the second series, and read straight through them all, back to back, probably my most satisfying reading experience ever. And of course subsequently have read the remaining four as well.

Have been in love with Cornwall and all things Cornish since our first family holiday there in the very early 1950s, and have kept going back ever since. Know, and have visited a number of the Series locations, though by no means all, and it's very strange, but almost seem to believe in the Poldark clan as a real living breathing family, and only wish that it was possible to learn more about them and their history.

What brought this all up? Well I have been lucky enough to be given complete videos of both first and second series, and am just now coming to the end of the final tape, and strangely enough, although some of the acting and direction seems a little stilted and dated by today's standards, the characters are as fresh and real as the first time I saw them over thirty years ago. I suppose that so much of the credit for this must go to the unbelievably sympathetic and indeed believable portrayal of Ross and Demelza by Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees, it was virtually impossible NOT to believe that they really were Ross and Demelza. Indeed in today's very different and sad world, would that more relationships enjoyed the same love and devotion that was enjoyed between Demelza/Angharad and Ross/Robin.

I have read the bios of most of the main actors, and would dearly love to learn more about them, even if today most are retired from the profession, with the exception of course of Morwenna/Jane Whymark who has a regular part on UK TV's Midsommer Murders.

What I have been wondering, and the other thing which prompted my joining this Forum, is whatever happened to "The Poldark Appreciation Society" and the PAS WebSite?? I did used to log on there fairly frequently, but now it seems to have disappeared without trace. Surely it would not be too difficult to keep it up and open, even if moribund, simply to keep access open to the WebSite archives. And have all the dinners and activities ceased as well?? No news is surely not good news.

I'll keep a watching eye on the Forum from time to time, good to make contact.
