about Ross and overthinking

Now that I have been called out on overthinking a certain event in the books, I wonder: Isn't this something that Ross himself would be likely to do (the overthinking, I mean)? Some bits of his internal monologue make it look like a valid possibility (most notably that in the evening of the blue dress, I think). And if so, could Ross's inclination to overthinking be part of the attraction he felt towards Elizabeth? It seems that one manifestation of her "poise" and "coolness" is that whenever she talks with Ross, it feels somewhat like a riddle. Ross could have been very much into solving these riddles, and may have believed that the excitement that came along with it was what love should feel like. What do you think?
