"On TFS ending, I agree it is lovely. The appearance of Clowance does seem to shift the conversation - before, it feels that Ross and Demelza are mostly talking past each other, stuck in self-pity mode; and after, they start to actually listen and respond to each other. (Also, this parallells what happened as a result of the beer mishap at the end of Warleggan.) I've been wondering, though, what difference it would make if there wasn't any Betsy Maria to take care of Clowance while Ross and Demelza were sorting out their feelings? Doesn't it tend to be very hard to put a child to sleep when the parent is in distress?
