RE: Hugh

Far from it, Vivian; and while I reply, let me welcome you onto the forum.  I have been immersed in other activities recently and missed your arrival.

Hugh was someone whose like Demelza had never before encountered.  She was drawn to him because of his association with Ross and I believe she sympathised with his frailty; caused by the experience in Quimper.  Hugh was encouraged by her interest and I think Demelza was unsure how to behave.  She didn't want to rebuff him, as that would have upset Lord Falmouth, who was a friend of Ross.  She was obviously flattered by his attention initially, but things quickly became more serious than that.

Hugh was relentless and despicable in his behaviour.  More than once I wished him back in that hell-hole of a camp.

Am I the only viewer who really dislikes Hugh Armitages manipulative behavior concerning Demelza?
