Hello again. Thank you for the really warm welcome. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy the 'banter'.
Yes, there is a railway connection. I'm from a steam railway family on my father's side and we all train spotted in our youth. My favourite engine has always been Evening Star so that's why I chose the name. No connection with Winston Graham, I'm afraid.
I think anyone who saw 'Game of Thrones' would see that Rose Leslie has energy, gutsiness and great personality. I agree she does look a bit like Angharad ( the irreplaceable ) but that was not the reason I thought of her. Somehow, I can just 'see' her as Demelza. Won't be long before we know, I expect !
Hello Evening Star and welcome! Very interesting choice of name, does it have a railway connection? I hope you'll thoroughly enjoy being a part of the forum especially as we approach this very exciting time when we are all agog to hear about the casting of the new dramatisation of Poldark. As far as Rose Leslie goes, I think she has a slight resemblance to Angharad Rees, but mainly I suppose for her hair colouring. I haven't seen her acting at all so can't really comment on how suitable she would be to play our dear Demelza. Does she have the sparkle, wit and spirited enough personality for Demelza, I wonder?
Andrew Buchan is a really fine actor and I have always liked him, but not for Ross I think. He'd be wonderful cast as Dwight, or even Francis.
It's going to have to be revealed very soon, I can't wait!
Meantime, enjoy the forum Evening Star, we're glad to have you on board!

I can see what you mean about Demelza being played by Rose Leslie - she looks the part (courtesy of Wikip). Not so convinced about Andrew Buchan - his photos do not give the impression of the superiority/attitude/army officer backbone that Ross/Robin Ellis portrayed - to me at any rate!
I had wondered about Andrew Buchan too. Is he tall enough though? Much is made in the books of Ross' height and I feel the actor must be someone tall - as indeed Robin was. Excuse the pun but it is a tall order to find someone with all the right credentials.
Welcome to the forum, Evening Star. I take it you are a person and not a newspaper! Hope you enjoy all our chatter.

Hello Evening Star. Andrew Buchan is a fine actor indeed, many great productions under his belt! I can't see him as Ross but as Francis, yes. And Rose Leslie is very pretty with, as you say a very nice voice.
Hi Evening Star and a warm welcome to the forum. Good time to join as lots of interesting things on the horizon to look forward to so hope you enjoy it all ...

New member Evening Star here. I love the Poldark books. I hope I'm posting this in the right section.
I think Andrew Buchan ( Garrow's Law ) would be my ideal choice to play Ross. And Rose Leslie would be good as Demelza. She has a lovely voice and I think the right measure of feistiness ( see 'Game of Thrones' ). Does anyone agree ?
