on robin's facebook page he gives a shout out to the "cult of poldark" episode posted on youtube by mcworster (big thanks to char). robin says, "A tasty morsel of a different sort for Poldark fans....."

I don't know what it is, but if only I could bottle it, I could make a fortune.

Haven't watched that before, it was just spine tinglelingly good. In spite of seeing actors and cast discussing everything, it still is so easy to believe that they really were real people, with real lives and loves, although on balance, I still relate to the books even more than the Series. But whatever, I just love Poldark.

it might be wishful thinking, but it'd be really neat if the 'cult of poldark' was added as a special feature on u.s. dvd release of series 2 in october perhaps even with additional interviews. doubt it will happen but i can dream can't i ...

Hey New Yawker, you will be very lucky indeed if your wishes come true, cos I missed this programme and I too am frustrated at only having seen snippets.....but I think we will have to patiently wait until it ever gets shown again......

Now I have just walked 5 miles, a glorious sunset beyond the village Church was indeed truly magnificant on the eye, and it was a joy to walk through the woods as the red sky turned to dusky blue and then grey to black.

They are only available for seven days.  You can download a programme to watch later but again once you click on it the seven days start counting.

I really enjoyed watching the Cult of Poldark too PG and agree that it was refreshing to see the actors being themselves, so relaxed, happy and obviously enjoying reminiscing about making Poldark and talking with such warmth and enthusiasm without the slightest touch of arrogance or ego.  I especially loved the way they all showed such great sense of humour and it was so touching to hear Robin say that Poldark is something he will cherish forever and appreciates being a part of so much.  One thing's for sure, he certainly has lost none of his handsome good looks or sex appeal and his quirky specs just add to his gentlemanly charm.

I agree, it certainly would be wonderful if he did decide to write a book about his memoirs, it would definitely be a best seller if he did.

As we are all such fans of Robin Ellis - has anyone ever though of finding a way of getting him to write his biography - now that he is older and Poldark was made 30 years ago - to bring us fans up to date with what he has been doing lately?  Everyone seems to be publishing their life stories of late even those who are still so young (and I must admit so uninteresting) why not someone who still has such a great fan base so many years after his most popular TV series.

Hi Tracy, yes don't worry it's still available.  Just go onto 'bbciplayer'  then click on the A-Z section, select 'C' and scroll down to page 4.  You'll find the Cult of Poldark at the bottom of page 4.  Good luck and enjoy!! Any probs come back and ask, we'll try to help.

Norma Straeder was the perfect choice for Verity wasn't she, she had such beautifully expressive eyes and as Ross thinks or remarks somewhere in one of the books, in his opinion his cousin Verity had the prettiest mouth he had ever seen on a woman.  She was perfectly cast and as Bruce Forsyth would say, 'she's my favourite!'  I would have liked to have heard more about Verity in the later books, maybe that's another possible idea for Book 13?

Interesting that Timothy Dalton was considered for Ross. He's the only man that comes close to Robin and would have made a fine job of it. 

I loved seeing Norma Streader, we really don't see enough of her these days.

Georgesgirl, have you read Making Poldark by Robin Ellis? Its a very interesting read and is Robin Ellis's memoirs on making Poldark so a lot of what He talked about on The cult of poldark is mentioned in this book. He wrote it quite a long time ago but you can still get copies, usually on Ebay!

I watched this last night on iPlayer ( What a great invention this is for people like me who forget smile )

I cannot believe that Robin was not first choice for Ross, or that Jill Townsend was American ( she did such a brilliant cut glass English accent )
I especially loved the explanation of the very realistic fight on the beach!!

It was lovely to see Sue and Robin candidly talk about making Poldark with such warmth and affection, they both obviously loved making it and as Robin so warmly told us, it is something he will cherish for the rest of his life.

What a fabulous personalities these two have, great sense of humour and gentle, friendly attitudes, perfectly natural, happy and relaxed just to be themselves on camera without a hint of arrogance or ego.  Many of today's so called celebrities could learn a thing or two by watching this programme.

This BBC4 documentary was repeated recently and will be available on BBC iplayer for a few more days only. Certainly a must see for any poldark fans, interviews with several of the main cast including Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees and revealing many interesting details about the making of the classic BBC series.
