Yahoo is pretty safe, they have Norton antivirus running, but of course, a good rule of thumb for any web surfing is a good firewall and anti-spyware and anti-virus software. I don't "leave home" without those. I also have Mozilla Firefox instead of what I like to call the "Internet Exploder" browser, because there's too many loopholes in IE. Firefox cuts out pop-up windows, and I used to have computer freezing, and all kinds of weird quirks that I don't have now that I installed Firefox.
Back on topic--got your file, Caroline, thank you very much! I'll post thoughts about it when I've finished it.

Computer Viruses ?

Hi GW

I've heard similar stories about computer viruses on other forums too, and often wondered whether opening a specific Hotmail or Yahoo account and publicly giving it would work in these situations ? It will probably finish up in junk mail obviously but providing there's a recognisable title or heading to trace it, it ought to get around such virus problems ?

Anyone know for sure ?

I sent an email to you...:^)
To Private message someone on this board, just click on their username. I'm sure no one here would maliciously use your email address, but I'm awfully paranoid about things like that since I got a computer virus about a year ago!
You might want to edit your post later and remove your address...G.W.

Ruth hasn't responded, but I'd like it if you can send it...I don't even know if this board has a Private Messaging option. I'll look for it (don't want to post my email for everyone in the world to see).
~EDIT~ Private email sent.

Hi Ruth

If you're just looking for the pdf of the story I have it. If you send me an email I'll email it back.

Hi Ruth

“The Horse Dealer” was originally serialised in three parts exclusively for the "Western Morning News" in the “Living Cornwall” section on April 23rd, April 30th and May 7th 2002, however it still remains under strict copyright. The best option would be to contact them directly and ask if it’s possible to obtain photocopies. Hope this helps…

A few months ago I saw a link from the bookends of Fowey website to www.poldark.com/poldark/horsedealer.pdf where it was possible to download the Poldark short story of the Horse Dealer by Winston Graham.  Unfortunately I didn't have the time to download it then and this link seems to no longer work.  I couldn't find any contact details for the society on the website so I emailed Bookends, they suggested I contact you via the forum.  Do you know where I can download this title still?  Thanks.  Ruth
