The answer to that Char (if it was a question...) is watching TV! Robin Ellis drew me in to the series. But there was a long gap in time before I saw the series again on Yesterday TV and remembered what an excellent story it was and sought out the books to read them. I found a boxed set of the first 5 books in the Oxfam bookshop in Newark and a fine Twisted Sword in that most excellent of pubs - The Raven in Bath - which has a charity bookshelf. Of the 12, only Bella was purchased as a new book.

I rather envy anyone just discovering the Poldark saga, all those wonderful stories to read for the first time, i still remember being transfixed by Ross Poldark after casually picking the book up whilst i was babysitting! One of lifes seminal moments that stay with you forever! Maybe we should start a new topic! WHere were you when you first discovered poldark?

I can't believe I missed Poldark for more than 30 years. When Installment 16 of the video ended I felt that I had lost these wonderful interesting people in my life that I had just discovered, but I am now looking forward to collecting and reading the books. I am delighted to find this website with all these knowledgeable and committed Poldarkians to give me further insights. Ross and Demelza Poldark are such complex, infuriating and bewitching characters!
