Hey how about Damian Lewis as George W?

I know how you feel about Richard, Smollett!

Yes to Damian - except that apart from Soames in The Forsyte Saga he has played some gorgeous likeble characters.....but I think he could make a great George.

Richard did one of the Big Finish Production stories about Guy/Marian in their Robin Hood series. It was very good.

I have to say I couldn't stand that version of Robin Hood - but then I'm a 'Robin of Sherwood' girl! However Richard was great in that series - and yes looked smouldering as Guy!

Speaking of 'Robin of Sherwood' - I wonder if there would be a nice part in a new Poldark for the lovely Michael Praed who is older now and still most attractive! Andrew Blamey? How old was he supposed to be?

Agreed on both! Bit sad that Kevin who was so lovely as Drake can now be Jud cry Re Pirates - I think there could be a great character part for Mackenzie Crook (also 'Gareth' in The Office)

Oh you might have - I think there are a few of us here who love him!

And with him, I'd love to see Jemima Rooper as Demelza, or maybe Emily Blunt. Also Gina McKee as Verity would be lovely. Emilia Fox as Elizabeth.

Sid James would make a brilliant Jud!
Perhaps we could slip a Hugh Bonneville in somewhere? Perhaps George? Or Francis?
And maybe Alex Kingston as Emma Tregirls?

ooh, this looks fun but i shall never be able to choose....
Toby Stephens has got to play someone and i think it would be probably George as he makes a great villain..
still think Gemma Arterton would make a physically good Demelza as would Jemima Rooper , used to think an actress called Phoebe Cates would be good but she is too old now (though not for an older Demelza...)
Ruth Jones for Prudie
Martin Clunes for Jud?
Can i put Anthony Hopkins in there somewhere?? another fave actor of mine, ?? Charles Poldark
Rupert Penry Jones as Francis
Maggie SMith Great Aunt Agatha
Christina Cole as Elizabeth
thats all for now.......

Out of interest and to get another slant on member's thoughts and views, if you could choose an alternative dream Poldark cast, up to book 7 as before, from a list of all time British actor greats who would they be ?

http://www.britishcinemagreats.com/title_actors_page/main.htm

Two short post war sample lists are below but obviously there are many, many more. It would also help where possible to add a suitable picture or two together with the role you would like to see them in.

Only 1 actor allowed per part, though additional choices can be listed separately.

For example Robert Shaw as George Warleggan....

Robert Shaw.jpg

Some examples :

Sir Lawrence Olivier, John Gielgud, Alastair Sim, Robert Newton, Alec Guiness, Sir John Mills, Trevor Howard, David Niven, Richard Attenborough, Michael Redgrave, James Mason, Richard Burton, Peter Ustinov, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Sean Connery, Robert Shaw, Anthony Hopkins, Roger Moore, Edward Fox, Peter O'Toole, Alan Bates, Stanley Baker, Albert Finney, Michael Caine, Donald Pleasance, Denholm Elliot, Nigerl Havers, Jeremy Irons and many, many more....

Vivien Leigh, Margaret Rutherford, Olivia de Havilland, Joyce Grenfell, Elizabeth Taylor, Virginia McKenna, Sylvia Sims, Julie Andrews, Vanessa Redgrave, Glenda Jackson, Maggie Smith, Julie Christie, Samantha Eggar, Helen Mirren, Helena Bonham Carter, Judy Dench, Pauline Collins, Jenny Agutter, Catherine Zeta Jones, Kate Winslet and many, many more....
