I know what you mean Bella, i always think its the start of Ross and Demelzas troubles and their relationship is a bit tenuous from the start.

Have just finished reading Jeremy Poldark.  I have enjoyed it, but I think it is my least favourite book.....but I suppose I shouldn't say yet until I have read them all again, it has been so long, and I not read Bella before.  Looking forward to starting Warleggan tonight.

Just to let you know, I stumbled across a Jeremy Poldark First Edition on E-bay, starting price 99p...anyway, after a few glasses, I bid and won for £5.  It turned up today, and why is it that it is exciting to hold? Sheeesh....I'm nuts.......anyway, I have flicked through, and it is exciting comparing it with later editions....but I have not found anything that has been changed.......

However, for those of you who do not own one, there is a nice little bit in the front which is missing from later editions, by Winston, and here it is:

I do not feel I can allow this, the third of the Poldark novels, to appear without thanking those of my friends, Cornish and otherwise, who have generously put their time and learning at my disposal whenever I have needed it.  In particular feel I must express my gratitude to Mr. T. S. Attlee, Mr. F. L. Harris and Mr. J. N. Rosewarne for their advice and encouragement in this work from the beginning.
