Very enjoyable listening to BBC Radio 4Extra's new broadcast and like "The Old Boys" somehow seems to lift the story right out of the book making it almost real. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that WG's stories are highly suited to radio as it seems to create a quite different experience to reading the same story in the books though as yet I don't know why. It wil be interesting to find out....
Again very well done !
Thanks to all...

A British officer late one afternoon trying to cross the Bernina Pass high in the Swiss Italian Alps into Italy is caught in the first heavy snowstorm of winter, but luckily finding someone still about in the next village he's then directed to the Chalet Lartrec two or three kilometres further on. With his car sliding perilously close to the edge of steep drops into the valley far below and hardly able to see through the blinding snow, he finally manages to reach the Chalet and although closed for the winter is immensely relieved when the innkeeper lets him have a room for the night....
