Anyhow, the first DVD came this morning reading the small print on the back it says  'For contractual reasons certain edits have been made'.

Hi Mrs. P  smile

Jogged my memory. It was a long time ago but there was quite a lot of discussion on here about this "contractual reasons" notice.  Are your DVDs by UK "Playback" ? If they are rather than give lots of references and details I've now partly forgotten, you might like to read through them for yourself ?

The quickest way is to click on the "Search" button on the top bar, then the "Advanced Search Facility". Enter just the word "Playback" and you should get 4 separate threads which refer. In each one somewhere is the word "Playback"....

Anyhow, the first DVD came this morningbiggrin reading the small print on the back it says  'For contractual reasons certain edits have been made'.

There is also a lovely picture of Robin on the front, that man has a dimple on his chin to die forbiggrinbiggrin

I'm afraid the tv series changed many things about the first book and one of the main changes was how Ross came to marry Demelza. Having read the books first i was horrified by how they changed the storyline but if you have only seen the adaptation you will be equally surprised by rather less dramatic version of their developing relationship. I believe the book is more romantic though more of a slowburner!

I have the Australian DVD sets and the scene you described IS included on the Aus. version.

But I don't believe this scene is in the books.  (Please correct me if I'm wrong, someone. Thank you.) :)

Unfortunately I'm not an expert at all on any of this as I still haven't decided whether to get a separate DVD player or a Driver (?) for the computer, so haven't watched any of them yet. In fact "Caroline Penvenen Enys" one of our long term regulars is probably the best person to ask, but she hasn't been around for quite a while as she had a baby around this time last year.

However as everything I know is all contained in this thread anyway (URL below) and she seems from memory to have covered most of your recent questions, hope it helps.?

Have you only read the first book ? If you have you might want to consider reading all 12 books first as the films stop permanently at Book 7 which can be a big disappointment.

Hi Tracy and a warm welcome to the forum smile

Can't help on your DVD question unfortunately as I've only got the VHS tapes, keep meaning to buy the Australian DVD version one day. Can anyone help as I haven't heard of this before?

I also think it's about time I started reading the books again as I'm struggling to remember the specific details of the incident as well ! disbelief  It certainly is a romantic scene, have you read the books .... ?

Hi there to all,
i just joined the site an have a question,
Been a fan since i watched it first time round  when i was 11.
I have the vhs version, that i watch all the time, and after watching my beloved Poldark on UKTV history ( i Missed the first 5 epps). I know you  all know that the scene are really edited on the tapes, but how about the DVDs?
Can someone let me know if the scene where Ross goes to bring Damelza back when she is off to get rid of the baby when they are on the Moor and he tell her he will marry her, he picks her up in his arms, is that on the dvd, coz it is cut out of the vhs, i love that bit, sooo romantic, its on u tube " a tribute to robin Ellis Ross Poldark.
Thank you all
Tracy
