I vaguely remember Poldark from the first time around. I was 12, so my parents must have watched it. Unsurprisingly, the thing that most stuck in my mind was the 'randy vicar', Christopher Biggins. I'm watching the repeats on UKHistory at the moment (isn't it brilliant for this sort of stuff? Last year, I watched every episode of Secret Army, which was a brilliant show for those as don't know) and it hasn't yet got to season two, but I have vague recollections of the Biggins watching some unfortunate lady taking a bath through a hole in the wall. You can imagine the effect this had on a 12 year old boy! I'm surprised I was allowed to watch it at all, to be honest. Anyway, the series is fantastic, though the occasional set piece battles are poorly staged enough to be amusing. I was intrigued also by Dwight Ennys's accent starting out as pure Cornwall and ending up as pure RADA.
