Hello Bowithick,

I hate to offend but after doing a little searching I discovered the series were actually aired before I was born - Ouch!  I was only born in 1976 so I'm definately too young to remember them.

I guess when I see series 2 and have finished all the books I'll be in a similar situation, I mean wanting to know more.

In the meantime I'll enjoy them as I get to them - I own all the series and plenty of time and can't wait to visit Cornwall at some time to discover all the wonderful places named and hinted at.

Bye for now

Hello and thank you,

no unfortunately they are not but there is plenty of time to convert them.  I think it was just a fluke present my mum bought - little did she know what she was unleashing.

My only problem with reading the books is that they are getting in the way of my university project - better finish the next book and get on with my work.   Shame!!!

Bye for now

Lavinia

Hi Lavinia,

Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember seeing the Series first time round, but have remained completely fascinated by the saga ever since, to the extent that I can almost believe in Ross and Demelza as real people, and would dearly love to know what "happened" in the continuation of their family history. After having watched Series One, and possibly Series Two as well, I obtained the first seven books as a boxed set, and literally read straight through all seven, back to back, which was undoubtedly one of the most satistying literary adventures I've ever experienced. I have of course now read all the books, up to and including the final novel, and can only marvel at Winston Graham's ability to keep the characters, and their stories alive and fresh for nigh on fifty years. I'm also lucky enough to have the full set of original BBC video releases, with or without their edietd scenes, and have much pleasure in sitting down and re-meeting the Poldark clan even now, so many years downstream

Welcome to this Forum - not the most active discussion board on the Web - but a group of like minded addicts from across the globe, all drawn into the fascinating world of eighteenth and nineteenth century Cornwall. Like one or two other modern afflictions, there is no known cure, so enjoy the ride, it beats hell out of worrying about today's rather sad PC society.

Hi Lavinia and welcome to the board !

I think most of us found it incredibly difficult to put the books down too so you're in very good company. Were your parents fans too ?

Hope you enjoy the remaining books

Ross

Firstly a big hello to all fellow Poldark fans, I'm relatively new to the Poldarks series but am well and truely hooked.

I first came across the story of Ross Poldark when my mum bought me a spoken word cassette.  I really enjoyed and wanted to read the book.  After much searching I found the first book in a second hand book store in Northumberland while on holiday and to my amazement and joy found there was a whole series.  I've just started Book 6 - The Four Swans and received the first TV series on Video at Christmas.

I must admit it was a bit of a surprise watching the series - especially as it was first televised when I was a nipper!  However, I've since watched it again and it's growing on me!

However, I must ask does anybody else having a problem putting the books down once they start reading because I'm finding it really difficult!

Best wishes to all

Lavinia.
