There is an ever increasing demand for first editions of the first four Poldark novels. I have just seen on Amazon a 2008 edition of Ross Poldark claiming to be a first edition. The price I think is £9.99 but it is still an untrue description. I have heard recently of someone who has been mis-sold a first edition of Ross Poldark for which she paid a large sum. For anyone thinking of buying a first edition one question you can ask is the name of the publisher. The only publisher of the first editions of the first four books was Ward Lock.

I have noticed in my local bookshop, and several other outlets, newish editions of Ross Poldark and Demelza have been produced in a small format, with gilt edged pages, which retail for £9.99. They look nice, a bit like a Bible.
On the Title Page it states they are complete and unabridged. My heart leapt - for a moment...
It is wrong.
These editions are exactly the same as the normal paperbacks. Don't be fooled.
