Can we call it:  corrections, incorrections, inconsistancies, and other errata

Interesting topic Mrs. G and certainly news to me about Lord Devoran's daughter. As I don't think we've ever gone into this before I think it's worth opening a new thread on it listing as many as possible for future reference.

What do you think ?

It is interesting you say about the comprehensive notes WG made for each character, Ross, because there are several inconsistencies throughout the 12 books.  One glaring example involves another Betty, who is sometimes Lord Devoran's daughter and sometimes his niece.

Certainly looks as though there's a difference especially as "The Angry Tide" is Book 7 and SFTS is Book 8.

If anyone can find any later references to Jinny and Scoble as well as all their children including Betty, it might shed a bit more light on it all as WG from memory always made copious notes about each character.

There is another reference to Jinny's two sons I have to find

The Angry Tide: Ballantine Books 1977 Chapter 3 Page 37 "Through the meal they talked of the casual homely things:  Jinny Scoble had another daughter, whom they had called Betty.

Stranger from the Sea:  E-Book Chapter 5 Page 231:  Once again, Whitehead was childless; it was something he felt strongly about and had motivated his absences and drinking.  He could be father to Jinny's three children even though they would never bear his name....Mary...Katie...Benjy Ross

Stranger From the Sea is my least favorite of the 12.  Will post this later today - it is in book 3 Jeremy Poldark that she has the daughter by Scoble and in Stranger from the Sea that it's claimed he is an angry man not having had any children with Jinny

Topic transferred to Poldark Experts....

______________

So, I was reading Stranger from the Sea the other day Jinny's second husband is described as childless but if remember correctly in book 4, Jinny had given birth to 2 or 3 children with Scoble.  Where am I wrong?  have to start reading from book one again to find where exactly it was?
