Wouldn't it be lovely for Robin to play the older Ross in the new adaptation, 1810 onwards.  You're right about his voice Dwight and with the expertise of the make-up department these days I can't see why it wouldn't work.  Failing this, I thought it would be fun for Robin maybe to play one of the cantankerous old rascals like Charles Poldark and have Donald Douglas his old arch enemy, McNeil, playing Nicholas Warleggan or Hugh Bodrugan!

Well, that wasn't the longest appearance ever, and like the rest of us, he has aged just a tad since the 1970s, but close your eyes, and it's still Ross saying the lines, his voice seems hardly to have changed at all. There'd be no problem in him portraying Ross in the later books, and I'm sure make-up could smooth out most of the years for the earlier books.
