The Red Lion was in Boscawen Street almost opposite Lower Lemon Street. A lorry went out of control and ploughed into it in the 1970s. It was demolished, and there followed a great hoohaa.
Just as a little post script to the Cameron baby - a couple had their first son in Treliske the day before them and had already called him Cameron!! Weird ....
Never did know where The Red Lion was, I always guessed down the lane on the left of the pic. where the Italian Restaurant is or was ? Definitely should be a plaque to mark the place "Jud preached to the ostler n'all here" or some such !
As for Endellion Looks like one of our favourite Poldark spots is soon going to be under siege....
Thank you for your warm welcome. I have just heard that the new Cameron babe is going to be called Endellion (middle name).
Yes Tholly I be farther west than you I think. Truro, not that far from the Red Lion Inn - or where it used to be.... All those cobbles could tell some stories I reckon.
Must go and riddle me oven out. The wind is in the wrong direction, that is the trouble. Smoke everywhere!!
Welcome, welcome Mrs Gimlett, so lovely to have a real insider joining the party, don't suppose your name is Jane too is it? lol Looking forward to hearing a few of your intimate Poldark tales, you must have quite a few to keep us all agog, especially good to listen to whilst eating one of your delicious pies washed down with a tot of Demelza's special port, beside a roaring Nampara kitchen fire. Can't wait!

Just seeing your name has had me full of giggles, and you are quite right, you should have had a starring role in the Poldark tv series....how wonderful that 'ee have jumped on board....it be lovely to welcome you. Now, in the novels you are very capable, competent, helpful, and reliable but I can tell from your first posting that you are also quite mischievious. I look forward to reading all your future postings!
Of course you live in the heart of Cornwall Mrs Gimlett, where else would you be?
Mrs Gimlet, we are honoured to welcome you to our forum, and just hope you find time to have a dish of tea withus from time to time, i appreciate how busy those poldarks keep you! Just watch out for Bella nd Tholly, they will try to lead you astray......
Awww proper job and 'ansome to meet 'ee m'dear ! Nows we can be 'avin some real local fun chats, pasties brews 'nall. Not too far from Bodmin me'self what part 'ee from then ?
I belong to be a new member - living in the very area much trudged by Ross, Demelza and all the others. Have never seen the series on TV, but am an avid fan of all the books, read many many times. I cannot tell you how let down I am that Mrs Gimlett never appears in the series - after all I was there in the Nampara kitchen all those years, (still am sometimes) knowing most of what went on! The work I had clearing up after Jud 'n Prudie, took weeks I can tell ee.
Well now I can look forward to a few yarns with all you experienced posters of Poldark - that is when I have just put this pie in the oven for Demelza and Ross' supper
